All inventory plots are geo-located, providing real-time mapping insights into a woodlot’s current condition. This data is seamlessly incorporated into management plans, treatment prescriptions, and timber sale maps, ensuring informed, site-specific decision-making.
Our GIS tools also document key landscape features such as watercourses, seeps, trails, and even a landowner’s favorite hunting stand—details that help create a complete picture of the property.
We regularly use our GIS services and mapping solutions to assist landowners with NRCS grant documentation, helping ensure project locations are accurately mapped and compliant before final reimbursements are released.

GIS TRAINING
At Keister Consulting, Inc., we use our knowledge and experience to give back to the industry.
In 2017, Susan Keister and Rob Wink, Ph.D., developed a continuing education course, “GIS Technology for Logging Professionals,” with support from New York Logger Training, the Empire State Forest Products Association, and the Workforce Development Institute. This course explored how GIS services and real-time mapping can enhance operational efficiency in the logging industry. They later shared their insights on these innovative mapping solutions in an article published in Northern Logger magazine.
